Extended Constructed Response

Long-term extended constructed response items may include a text-based product or extended constructed response such as the composition of:

  • Essays
  • Reports
  • Articles
  • Reviews
  • Stories
  • Poems
  • Dramatic forms (e.g., skits, scenes, plays)
  • Learning log entries
  • Process explanations and descriptions 

Task specifications for a long-term extended constructed response in the fine arts must include, but need not be limited to:

  • Identification of a range of information sources
  • Recommendations regarding such matters as text length, format, delivery mode, accompanying materials (e.g., diagrams, illustrations, references)
  • Guidelines for recommended or required supporting materials (e.g., notes, process logs, draft stage work, reflection, extension activities)
  • Logistical guidelines (e.g., gathering and storing supporting materials, delivery mode for assessment purposes)
